Consultant:
The consultant directs the medical team responsible for your care. A Consultant is available 24 hours a day at the hospital through a shared system of "on call" responsibility.
Senior Specialist:
The senior specialist is a trained specialist who provides senior on-site medical services. The senior registrar will see you as required, make recommendations and provide you with information regarding your condition. She will discuss/refer patients to the consultant for review and advice regarding management, if necessary.
Specialist:
The Medical Officer is a trained postgraduate physician who provides on-site medical services.
Medical Practitioner:
The Medical Practitioner is a graduate medical physician. This physician provides daily care under the direction of the medical team.
Note: As your condition changes so does the information and opinions of the physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team; thus at times it may appear as if the opinions offered by your physician differ. If you feel that the information you receive is confusing or contradictory then you may request to speak to a senior physician or a consultant.
