• General public visitation: 10:00 to 22:00
• During the Holy Month of Ramadan visiting is extended 10:00 – 24:00
• Husband and / or one female relative can visit from 06:00 to 22:00
• VIP & Corniche Suites: 06:00 to 22:00
Children must be accompanied at all times by an adult (who is not the patient) during their stay. The child cannot be left with the mother during the day or night. Please note there is no child care center in the Hospital.
Due to space constraints in the patient room, no sitter is allowed to stay overnight unless the patient has been granted a single room or at the discretion of the medical / nursing staff. Only female sitters are permitted to stay overnight.
Unit Visitation Hours
Kindly note that some areas have more restrictive visitation based on the nature of the clinical care they deliver.
Main Delivery Unit (MDU):
General visitors are not permitted at any time; ONLY two support persons are allowed to stay with the patient while she is in labor. The support persons should be chosen in advance, prior to admission, to avoid any disturbance. The husband is the only male visitor allowed inside the unit.
High Dependency Unit (HDU):
Visiting is limited to 2 adult visitors per patient however; visiting is at the discretion of the midwife or doctor in charge depending on the patient’s medical condition.
Visitation may be restricted to a close relative when infection control precautions are applied for a patient. Restrictions are determined on an individual level and controlled locally.
Neonatal Unit (NNU):
• The parents of the infant are provided with a visiting card which allows them to visit at any time.
• A friend or relative may accompany the parent to the infant’s cot side only on Friday or Saturday between 15:00 and 16:00; however, only two persons are permitted to be at the cot side at any one time. Visiting for friends / relatives is not permitted on week days.
• Parents and visitors must perform hand hygiene and wear disposable gowns.
• Children are not permitted to visit.
Operation Room (OR):
The husband or female relative is permitted to be present at the time of caesarean section birth if the patient is having the surgery performed under regional anaesthesia. Other family members and friends may wait on the 3rd floor waiting area.
Medical Imaging Department (MID):
The husband can wait with the patient in the designated family area and can accompany the patient to the scan room. No restrictions for female company.
Outpatient Department (OPD) / Women Health Center (WHC) / Urgent Care):
There is a designated ‘Family Waiting Area’ in OPD available for the patient and husband to wait; it is not permitted for males to wait in the female waiting area.
The husband is allowed to be with the patient upon her request in the consultation rooms in OPD, WHC & Urgent Care.
Business office visitors, vendors and contractors are asked to pick up a “Security Pass” against their photo ID from the security desk at the staff entrance. They must wear the security badge throughout their time in the hospital.
Planned visitors coming on business to the Corniche must be informed to present to main security desk or staff entrance security desk. The security staff at the desk will ascertain who they wish to see and then contact that person. The visitor will only be allowed entry to the facility with approval of that person and the security pass will be issued. SEHA visitors are not required to obtain a security pass.
Visitors to Supplies Department must use the supplies entrance and will not be permitted access to the main hospital unaccompanied. This is controlled by Security staff at Staff Entrance.
